Why is it that so much comedy, so much humor, so many jokes are rooted in the misfortunes of others? I bet the first person to ever laugh was a caveman who saw his buddy get hit in the testicles with a club.
I read somewhere that laughter is the physical reaction to emotional relief. So i guess it makes sense that we laugh when Steve-O gets knocked unconscious by a Kangaroo or when comedians explain how boring their marriages are. We see ourselves in these individuals, and we are RELIEVED that they are NOT US. Jackass is the only PURE comedy left. It is not satire or parody nor is it smart or situational. Its cavemen getting hit in the testicles with clubs. Its genius!
